Effective July 6, 2026
News Nation is committed to the highest standards of journalism. This Code of Ethics guides our reporters, editors, producers, and contributors in delivering news that is accurate, fair, independent, and accountable to the public.
1. Our Mission
We serve the public interest by providing timely, verified news and analysis. Our journalism aims to inform democratic debate, hold power to account, and give voice to diverse communities across India and the world.
2. Accuracy & Fairness
- We verify facts before publication and distinguish between reporting and opinion.
- We present multiple perspectives on contentious issues where appropriate.
- We avoid sensationalism and misleading headlines that do not reflect story content.
- We clearly label sponsored content, advertorials, and paid partnerships.
3. Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers, political parties, corporate owners, and external pressure groups. No outside party may review or approve news content prior to publication, except for standard legal review where necessary.
4. Sources & Verification
- We protect confidential sources who provide information in the public interest.
- We do not pay sources for information except in clearly disclosed cases such as freelance contributions.
- We attribute information to named sources whenever possible and explain why anonymity is granted.
- We exercise caution with user-generated content and verify before broadcast or publication.
5. Corrections Policy
When we make an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Significant corrections are noted at the top or bottom of the affected article with the date and nature of the change. Readers may report errors via our corrections email.
6. Conflicts of Interest
Staff must disclose financial interests, personal relationships, or other factors that could compromise impartiality. They must not use their position for personal gain or promote products without editorial approval and clear disclosure.
7. Diversity & Inclusion
We strive to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve in our coverage and newsroom. We reject discrimination based on race, religion, gender, caste, disability, sexual orientation, or political affiliation in our journalism and workplace practices.
8. Reporting Concerns
If you believe our journalism falls short of these standards, contact our public editor or standards desk. We investigate complaints seriously and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
